”We are excited to kick off the NLL Season in Halifax on Dec. 2,” Thunderbirds President and CEO John Catalano said. “It is a tremendous opportunity to show off the electric atmosphere and our incredible fan base on a national stage.”

The Thunderbirds finished the 2021-22 season with an 11-7 record and a postseason appearance. The team finished with a 7-2 home record, capping the NLL season with a 13-10 home win against the Rochester Knighthawks on April 30, 2022.

The NLL added the Las Vegas Desert Dogs in expansion, bringing the total number of teams up to 15. The Desert Dogs join the Western Conference, and the eight-team Eastern Conference – which the Thunderbirds are a part of – remains unchanged.

The 2022-23 Thunderbirds season consists of 18 games, nine at home and nine on the road. Their third season of action in Halifax kicks off the 2022-23 NLL season. After that, the Thunderbirds take a bye week for Week 2, then head on the road for a game against the New York Riptide on Saturday, Dec. 17. Halifax caps December off with another road game, taking on the Buffalo Bandits at KeyBank Center on Friday, Dec. 30.

Four of the Thunderbirds’ first six games are on the road, and the team’s final seven games alternate between home and road. Their final regular season home game takes place on Saturday, April 22, 2023, against the Riptide, and the regular season finale for the Thunderbirds will happen down south on Saturday, April 29, against the Georgia Swarm.

The Thunderbirds only play two games against Western Conference teams – Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, against the Calgary Roughnecks at Scotiabank Centre and Saturday, April 15, 2023, against the Saskatchewan Rush at SaskTel Centre.

Of their Eastern Conference rivals, the Thunderbirds play the Riptide and Bandits three times each throughout the season; the other five teams will be played twice each this regular season.

The 2022-23 Thunderbirds season features two Sunday matinee games, both at Scotiabank Centre. Six contests will take place on Friday, and the remaining 10 games fall on Saturday.  While the team has five bye weeks, they only have one doubleheader weekend – a home game against the Albany FireWolves on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023 before a quick flight West to Ontario to take on the Toronto Rock on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023.
