HALIFAX, NS (June 13, 2023) – The Halifax Thunderbirds today announced that the team has signed defender Tyson Bell to a two-year contract extension.

"Tyson Bell had an amazing year for the Thunderbirds. His energy, lacrosse IQ and athletism make him one of the backbones of our defence," Thunderbirds head coach Mike Accursi said of the signing. "I’m excited to have him as a part of the Thunderbirds team for the next two years."

Bell, 29, just finished his seventh season in the National Lacrosse League and second with the Thunderbirds. Halifax acquired him via trade from Calgary in 2020.

The St. Catharines, Ontario product had one of his best seasons as a professional in 2022-23, tying his career-high in points with 14 while scooping a career-best 115 loose balls to go along with 11 caused turnovers.

For his career, Bell has 23 goals and 47 assists for 70 points along with 624 LBs and 96 CTOs.

"There is no place I’d rather be and no city I’d rather play for. Halifax is truly a special place and I am excited and thrilled to be back with the Thunderbirds for another two years," Bell said.
