Thunderbirds sign Mike Burke to a One-Year Contract

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (July 22, 2021) - The Halifax Thunderbirds today announced they have re-signed forward Mike Burke to a one-year contract.

 

Burke, 31, wrapped up his fifth season in the NLL and second with the franchise with 31 points (8G, 23A) and 42 loose balls in 10 games played.

 

The right-hander out of Brampton, Ontario set single season career highs in his first season with the franchise with points (42), goals (15), assists (17), and loose balls (47). In 46 regular season games across five seasons, he has 108 points (38G, 70A), 122 loose balls, and three caused turnovers.

 

An alum of Hofstra University, Burke was selected in the third round (No. 28 overall) by the Edmonton Rush in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft. The Thunderbirds initially signed him to a one-year agreement in January 2019, and after the season’s conclusion, brought Burke back on a two-year deal in Oct. 2019.
