Thunderbirds sign Eric Fannell to a two-year deal

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (July 16, 2021) –  The Halifax Thunderbirds and Eric Fannell have agreed to a two-year contract extension, securing him through the 2022-2023 NLL season.

The 6-foot-2 left-handed forward was drafted 6th overall in the 2017 NLL Entry Draft by the franchise. In his rookie season, he appeared in 14 games, posting 37 regular season points (16G, 21A), and Fannell tallied an additional 11 points (6G, 5A) en route to an NLL Finals appearance. Fannell was named to the 2018 NLL All-Rookie team, alongside fellow Ohio State Buckeye teammates Jake Withers and Austin Shanks.

Battling through injuries in the 2019 season, Fannell rebounded to appear in nine games for the Thunderbirds in 2020, posting 11 points (6G, 5A) and collecting 29 loose balls. Fannell’s size and gritty style of play will provide an already star-studded left side another promising option with his ability to set picks and help generate offense.

“It’s a great honour and privilege to play in and for Halifax," Fannell said. "I’m thankful to play for the fans, the organization and with my teammates”
