Thunderbirds sign Butch La Roue to one-year deal

(HALIFAX, NS) October 19, 2023 - The Halifax Thunderbirds today announced that the team has signed transition player Butch La Roue to a one-year contract.

La Roue, 22, spent this past summer with the Burnaby Lakers of the Western Lacrosse Association, where he appeared in 18 games, collecting six points over the season.

The South Surrey, BC product also spent his Junior “A” career with the Burnaby Lakers organization. In his 40 games played, La Roue put up 14 points (4 goals and 10 assists). 

“When it comes to defenders, you can’t find a more steady example than Butch. He is responsible and aware on the defensive end of the floor and has the ability to transition quickly when the opportunity arises,” Thunderbirds Western Scout Kevin Hill said of La Roue. “With size, speed and toughness at the ready, he’s an excellent addition to the Thunderbirds’ back end.”

La Roue’s younger brother, Sam, also competes in the National Lacrosse League for the Buffalo Bandits.
