HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (March 15, 2022) - The Halifax Thunderbirds today announced they have acquired left-handed forward Dawson Theede via trade with Panther City Lacrosse Club, sending forward Stephan Leblanc and a second-round selection in the 2024 NLL Entry draft in exchange.

Theede, 24, is in his second season in the NLL. He played in six games for Panther City, posting 13 points (7G, 6A) and 21 loose balls for the expansion franchise. Listed at 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds, Theede has 15 NLL games under his belt between Panther City and the Rochester Knighthawks in 2019. He has 23 points (10G, 13A) and 50 loose balls over that span.

A Brooklin, Ontario native, Theede was drafted in the fourth round (No. 49 overall) of the 2018 NLL Entry Draft. He was signed by the New York Riptide in the summer of 2019 before being traded to Panther City in exchange for Scott Dominey.

“I’m excited to be back,” Theede said. “I’ve been going to school here (in Halifax) for the past four years, so it’s exciting. I get to play in front of some of my friends. I’m going to bring a gritty game to Halifax and try and help the boys win an NLL championship this year.”
