Thunderbirds receive Compensatory Picks

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The National Lacrosse League has announced the list of teams who have been awarded compensatory draft selections  as a result of losing players to unrestricted free agency prior to the 2018-19 NLL season. Halifax will receive two picks over the next two years from the loss of Matt Vinc last season. 

  • The Colorado Mammoth will receive a selection at the conclusion of the 2nd round of the 2019 Entry Draft, which is the 31st overall selection and a conditional selection in the 3rd round of the 2020 Entry Draft for losing Greg Downing.

 

  • The Halifax Thunderbirds will receive a selection at the conclusion of the 1st round of the 2019 Entry Draft, which is the 14th overall selection and a selection at the conclusion of the 1st round of the 2020 Entry Draft for losing Matt Vinc.

 

  • The New England Black Wolves will receive a selection at the conclusion of the 1st round of the 2019 Entry Draft, which is the 17th overall selection for losing Aaron Bold.
  • The Saskatchewan Rush will receive a selection at the conclusion of the 1st round of the 2019 Entry Draft, which is the 16th overall selection for losing Dan Dawson.
  • The Toronto Rock will receive a selection at the conclusion of the 1st round of the 2019 Entry Draft, which is the 15th overall selection and a selection at the conclusion of the 2nd round of the 2020 Entry Draft for losing Brodie Merrill. 

The League's awarding of a compensatory draft selection(s) for losing an Unrestricted Free Agent is authorized by Section 7.2(D) of the Collective Bargaining Agreement:

  1. Compensatory Draft Selections. Any Club that loses an Unrestricted Free Agent shall be eligible to receive a compensatory draft selection(s) that will be issued by the League in a formula to be determined solely by the League.
