Thunderbirds ink Zac Carrigan to two-year deal

HALIFAX, NS (August 3, 2023) – The Halifax Thunderbirds today announced that the team has signed forward Zac Carrigan to a two-year contract. 

“It’s Been a lifelong dream of mine to play in the NLL. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to get to play in my hometown,” Carrigan said. “I’ve Always wanted to grow the game and open more doors for more Nova Scotia products to live their dream! On top of that, I get to learn from some of the best in the game. I Can’t wait to get out on the floor with the guys.”

Carrigan, a Halifax product, came up through the Sackville Wolves’ system, playing his junior lacrosse for the ECJLL squad. His best season came in 2019, when he led the league in both goals (61) and points (98). His final junior season in 2021 saw him score 28 goals and 40 points across eight contests. 

Carrigan made the move to play in Ontario senior ranks this summer, splitting time with the Brooklin Merchants (OSL) and Brooklin Lacrosse Club (MSL). 

With the Merchants, Carrigan finished the regular season fifth in Senior B scoring with 62 points in 12 games. He added 24 points in 11 Senior A games.

Carrigan also played collegiate lacrosse at Mars Hill, finishing with 157 goals and 209 points across 64 career games with the Lions.
