Thunderbirds, Ethan O'Connor agree to one-year extension

HALIFAX, NS (August 11, 2026) – The Halifax Thunderbirds announced today that the team has signed defender Ethan O’Connor to a one-year contract extension. 

O’Connor, 34, is an 11-year National Lacrosse League veteran who just finished his first season as a member of the Thunderbirds.

Appearing in 15 regular-season games with Halifax this past season, the Milton, Ontario product had a goal and an assist, along with 38 loose balls, four caused turnovers, and seven blocked shots. O’Connor also appeared in all six playoff contests in 2026 for the Thunderbirds, where he had an assist, 15 loose balls, two caused turnovers, and four blocked shots. 

Across 182 career regular-season contests, the veteran defender has posted 27 goals and 77 points, 748 loose balls, 92 caused turnovers, and 70 blocks.

O’Connor is a two-time NLL Champion, taking home the trophy in 2017 and 2023 with Georgia and Buffalo, respectively. He also helped the Thunderbirds to the team’s first NLL appearance since moving to the Maritimes.
