Thunderbirds Announce 2023-24 Season Schedule

(Halifax, NS) September 26, 2023 - The Thunderbirds announced today in conjunction with the National Lacrosse League, their schedule for the 2023-24 season. The Thunderbirds kick off the NLL season on Dec 1 as they host the Saskatchewan Rush at 8:00 p.m. AT at Scotiabank Centre. 

Tickets for the home opener will go on sale Oct 23, with full-season single-game tickets available for purchase on Nov 1. Fans can still secure season-tickets by heading to HalifaxThunderbirds.com/tickets, or by calling or texting (902)-334-2333. 

The Thunderbirds finished their 2022-23 campaign with a record of 10-8, including a post-season appearance. The Thunderbirds will again compete in 18 regular-season games, nine at Scotiabank Centre and nine on the road. 

The NLL announced today the new “Unified Standings” format which has gotten rid of the previous East and West Divisions. This means the Thunderbirds will play every team at least once this season. The remaining four games will be home-and-homes against the Saskatchewan Rush, Rochester Knighthawks, Philadephia Wings, and Toronto Rock.

“This new format creates exciting new storylines and gives fans the opportunity to see the best of the best around the league,” said Thunderbirds President and CEO John Catalano. “The one-league-wide division, intensifying every match-up this season.” 

After the Thunderbirds kick off the NLL season at home, they head into Week 2 with a bye before going on the road to take on the New York Riptide on Dec 16. The Thunderbirds wrap up December by hosting the Wings at The Nest.

The Thunderbirds play three times in January, with the first game in Albany in Jan 6 before returning home to take on the Toronto Rock on Jan 16, and Rochester on Jan 27.

Halifax will have a busy February with a back-to-back weekend at home, and a double header. The two-game homestand starts Feb 9 against the Las Vegas Desert Dogs and will wrap with a Feb 16 showdown with the Buffalo Bandits. The Thunderbirds have a quick turnaround as they head to Calgary on Feb 18 to take on the Roughnecks. 

The Thunderbirds play three of the remaining seven games at home, including hosting Georgia on Mar 1, Panther City on Mar 15 and then closing out the season at home against the Colorado Mammoth on Apr 20.

On the road the Thunderbirds take on San Diego, Rochester, and Toronto before making one last trip out West to face the Vancouver Warriors on Apr 5.
