HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (August 3, 2021) – The Halifax Thunderbirds announced today that the organization has added long time NLLer Mike Kirk as a Senior Lacrosse Advisor and Player Analyst.

“I’m honoured to take on this new role with the Halifax Thunderbirds,” said Kirk. “I’m excited to start the next chapter of my lacrosse career.”

During his time in the NLL, Kirk suited up with Chicago, San Jose, Boston and Rochester. Originally selected by the Chicago Shamrox in the third round (27th overall) of the 2006 NLL Entry Draft, the former defensemen posted 16 goals, had 46 assists and added 564 loose balls in 156 games. Kirk, who was an alternate captain of the Knighthawks, was an integral part of a team that made league history, winning three consecutive NLL titles from 2012 to 2014.

In his new role with the franchise, Kirk will work closely with Thunderbirds Owner and General Manager, Curt Styres, preparing the Thunderbirds for success; studying opponents and players, preparing material for scouting, strategic planning purposes for contracts, amongst other duties.

“Mike was a big part of the Knighthawks success when he was with the organization,” said Team Owner and General Manager Curt Styres. “We are looking forward to having him join the Thunderbirds, as he brings a ton of lacrosse knowledge, and leadership.”
