Free Agent Keogh Back to Halifax

Jul 28, 2020

(July 28, 2020) Halifax, NS – The Thunderbirds announced today that they have signed veteran forward and free agent Stephen Keogh to a one-year deal.

“I look forward to playing back In Halifax in front of the best fans in the league,” said Keogh.  “This team is built for a championship run and I’m excited to be a part of it. Curt Styres and Mike Accursi gave me a chance last year when everyone else counted me out after several different injuries. They have showed their faith and trust in me and I can’t thank them enough for another opportunity to battle to bring a championship to the east coast.”

Keogh spent the 2019-20 season with the ‘Birds and was a key factor in the offensive power the Thunderbirds brought all season long. The Toronto, Ontario native completed his ninth season in the NLL and eighth with the franchise.  In 2020 played in 12 games scoring 18 goals and adding 16 assists.

“Stephen Keogh has a history of winning championships,” said Owner and General Manager Curt Styres.  “He knows what it takes to get it done in big games.  Keogh is a player who puts everything on the line every single shift, plays his heart out and we are thrilled Keogh is a Halifax Thunderbird.”

In his nine-year career, he’s played in 121 games, scoring 186 goals and adding 184 assists. Keogh won three straight Champion’s Cups (2012-14) with the franchise. In 2014 he was named the teams’ Offensive MVP while he set career highs in goals (33), assists (38) and points (71).  Prior to the National Lacrosse League, he won two National Championships with Syracuse University.
